Different Types of Metal and How They Weld

 


1. Steel:
Description: Steel is an alloy primarily composed of iron and carbon. It comes in various types, including mild steel, stainless steel, and high-strength steel.
Welding Applications: Steel is widely used in construction, automotive, and manufacturing industries. Welding methods include Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).

2. Aluminum:
Description: Aluminum is a lightweight and corrosion-resistant metal known for its conductivity and versatility.
Welding Applications: Aluminum is used in aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries. Welding methods include Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) with specialized techniques to handle aluminum’s thermal conductivity and oxide layer.

8. Brass and Bronze:

Welding Applications: Brass and bronze are used in decorative items, musical instruments, and bearings. Welding methods include Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and brazing due to their low melting points.
